Top Candidates For Nba Rookie Of The Year Award

This wasn’t the storied NBA draft class of 2003, but this year’s draft class isn’t short of talent either. There are competition and intrigue all throughout the league when it comes to the recipient of the Rookie of the Year award.

Here are the top candidates for the ROTY award:

Ben Simmons: First pick, 76ers (2016)

Ben Simmons’ rookie season was shut down after he broke his foot during training camp last year. Now healthy, Simmons is the favorite pick to win the ROTY award. The 6-10 forward can play different positions including point guard.

Lonzo Ball: Second pick, Lakers

Thanks to the hype created by his father, Ball came into the league with a spotlight shining on him that will either make him the best rookie of the class or one of the greatest busts of all-time.

Jaysum Tatum: Third pick, Celtics

The kid has talent. Put him on a lottery team and give him 30 minutes a night and he will be up there with Simmons and Ball. He’s a scorer and is a good guard in Boston’s second unit.

Markelle Fultz: First pick, 76ers

Fultz could be the best rookie of his draft class had it not been for his shoulder injury. But since the season is still young, there’s still a chance that he will outshine his draft class and show the league why he was drafted number 1.
